Two countries withdrew their signatures under the Peace Summit declaration: details

In an unexpected turn of events, Iraq and Jordan withdrew their signatures from the joint communiqué of the Global Peace Summit held in Switzerland.

The reasons for this decision are still unknown, but it happened shortly after the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, held negotiations with representatives of both countries regarding the Ukrainian peace formula and participation in its implementation.

The refusal of Iraq and Jordan to support the communique adds Armenia, Bahrain, Colombia, Qatar, India, Indonesia, Libya, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates to the list of non-signatories.

The full text of the communique, released later, emphasized the importance of nuclear and food security, the release of prisoners and the need for “engagement and dialogue between all parties” to achieve peace.

India also joined the list of countries that did not sign the document. According to the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India, the country believes that “only those options that are acceptable to both sides” can lead to a lasting peace.
