Ukrainian Armed Forces deny use of ODAB-9000 vacuum bomb in Vovchansk by Russian army, as reported by Russian public media

The Defense Forces of Ukraine denied information about the use of ODAB-9000 air bombs by Russian troops in Vovchansk, calling these reports false and part of an information war.

As reported operational-tactical group “Kharkiv” in Telegram, the information about the use of this super-powerful aerial bomb does not correspond to reality.

The group’s spokesman, Colonel Vitaly Sarantsev, explained that the use of the ODAB-9000 requires a special carrier, which can be a strategic bomber, for example, the Tu-160. However, the Ukrainian military did not record any movements of such aircraft.

Sarantsev noted that in reality an ammunition of lower weight and power was used, and Russian propaganda spread fake information to create a “spectacular” picture. Such fake messages can be part of an information war aimed at intimidating the local population and demoralizing the Ukrainian military.

The ODAB-9000 is Russia’s most powerful non-nuclear weapon, tested only once in 2007. Its use requires significant resources, and the probability of its use in real combat conditions is very low due to the risk of losing strategic bombers.
