60% of veterans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine face financial difficulties: research results

Almost 60% of Ukrainian veterans are most in need of financial assistance, the results show research, conducted by the Ukrainian Fund of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs.

When asked what kind of support is most relevant for them, 59.8% of respondents answered that they need financial assistance. Other answer options were distributed as follows: 5.7% indicated the need for informational support, 4.5% for educational support, 8.7% for psychological support, 12.8% for medical support, and 8.6% for legal support.

For benefits enjoyed by veterans and their families, the results are as follows:

  • 69.2% use communal subsidies,
  • 48.9% — by free travel,
  • 30.6% receive a pension,
  • 12.6% have access to medical care,
  • 9.7% use educational benefits,
  • 7.4% receive cash assistance,
  • 4.1% undergo psychological rehabilitation.

These data emphasize the urgent need for increased support for veterans from the state and public organizations. The online survey was conducted in October-November 2024 among 1,025 veterans, including active military personnel. The organizers note that the study is not representative, as no selection criteria were established. Its purpose was to identify the main problems and needs of this audience.
