Ukrainian Defense Forces Advance Near Novopavlivka in Donetsk Oblast: ISW

The Ukrainian Defense Forces achieved a tactical advance near Novopavlivka in the Donetsk region. About this it is said in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

“Ukrainian troops have recently advanced in the direction of Novopavlivka. Geolocation videos published on July 18 indicate that Ukrainian troops have recently retaken Yalta (south of Novopavlivka)”, – is noted in the message of ISW.

According to analysts, additional geolocation materials, also dated July 18, indicate the advance of Ukrainian units in the direction of the southwest from the settlement of Komar, located south of Novopavlivka. The institute notes that Ukrainian forces are conducting counterattacks in critical areas of the front in order to deter the Russian offensive.

At the same time, Russian troops continued offensive actions on Novopavlivka itself, as well as in the areas to the northeast – near Muravka; to the southeast — in the districts of Horikhovo, Dachnoy, Oleksiivka; to the south – to Philia; and to the southwest — in the direction of Zirka, Piddubne, Myrne, Voskresenka settlements and towards Oleksandrograd during July 17-18.

Russian occupation forces captured the village of Yablunivka in Sumy Oblast and advanced in the districts of Yunakivka (Sum Oblast), Khatny (Kharkiv Oblast), Romanivka and Toretska (both Donetsk Oblast).
