Most of the shells used by the Russian Federation in the Kharkiv region are North Korean and Iranian: OTU ‘Kharkiv’

Russian troops in the Kharkiv region are actively using ammunition supplied by North Korea and Iran, the spokesman for the Kharkiv Operational and Tactical Group Yevhen Romanov said on television.

According to him, a significant proportion of artillery shells used by the enemy to fire at Ukrainian positions and civilian objects in Kharkiv region are of North Korean and Iranian origin. In particular, Russian forces are actively using North Korean 122 mm and 152 mm calibre shells. These munitions account for up to 60% of the total amount used by the occupier to conduct hostilities in the region, Romanov noted.

The spokesperson also touched upon the quality of these munitions, stressing that North Korean shells have significant flaws. He stressed that their quality is not sufficient to achieve accuracy, and there are often cases when the shells do not work or explode with a delay. Such problems reduce the effectiveness of the use of these munitions and may even pose a danger to the Russian troops themselves.

These facts, according to Romanov, indicate that the Russian army relies heavily on supplies from the DPRK and Iran, as it faces a lack of quality domestic resources to continue active hostilities.
