A delegation from Ukraine is expected to arrive in the United States late this week or early next week to discuss an agreement related to cooperation in the field of minerals. This was stated by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, informs Bloomberg.
Bessent said a group from Ukraine will arrive in the U.S. either later this week or early next week to discuss a proposed economic cooperation agreement between the two countries. – the message says.
According to Bessent, the Ukrainian side has already “hired a lawyer”, while the United States has a draft agreement prepared.
“We believe that this agreement is very important for the American people, for the Ukrainian people and for the peace process,” – explained the US Treasury Secretary.
We will remind that on March 28, Ukraine received an updated version of the agreement proposed by the USA. On the same day, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that if there are risky provisions in the mineral agreement, he will inform the public about it.
On March 31, US President Donald Trump, commenting on the progress of the discussion of the terms of the new agreement, said that Zelensky apparently intends to abandon the agreements on mineral extraction. He also warned that in case of such a decision, the president of Ukraine may face “significant problems”. In response, Zelensky noted that Ukraine will not consider previously provided US military aid as a debt obligation.
