The State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control will check the availability of specialists with pharmaceutical education in pharmacies

The State Service for Medicinal Products and Narcotics Control (Derzhliksluzhba) will conduct an inspection of pharmacies regarding the availability of specialists with pharmaceutical education. About this it is said on the website of the Ministry of Health.

According to the results of inspections in the first quarter of 2025, the State Health Service found that a number of pharmacies lacked a staff of employees with appropriate education and qualifications. The Ministry of Health emphasized that the dispensing of medicines should be carried out exclusively by a specialist with a pharmaceutical education, and failure to comply with this requirement poses a potential threat to patient safety.

The ministry also reminded of preparations for the launch of the register of pharmacists and noted that with the help of the ESOZ system, the absence of employees with a confirmed pharmaceutical education was recorded in some pharmacy establishments.

“Such institutions will be subject to inspection by the State Medical Service for compliance with licensing conditions. The unified electronic health care system allows identifying pharmacy workers by positions, education, experience and other criteria.

This makes it possible to create a transparent model of provision of the pharmacy network by specialists, and in the future to integrate this data into the future register of human resources in the health care system, which will also include data on registered pharmaceutical workers.” — clarifies the Ministry of Health.

We will remind that on February 13, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree, which implemented the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on the implementation of additional measures to increase the availability of medicines for citizens. According to him, starting from March 1, prices for the 100 most popular medical drugs were expected to drop by 30%.
