Students who refuse basic military training will be expelled: Ministry of Defense

Refusal of a male student deemed fit for military service to undergo practical training in basic military professional training (BZVP) may be the basis for his expulsion from the educational institution in accordance with the law. About this stated in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The BZVP program was developed taking into account modern challenges and the experience of leading European countries, such as Poland, Finland and the Baltic states. It is aimed at the acquisition of the necessary military skills by young people and the formation of readiness for the defense of the state.
“It is important to note that the changes to the law do not provide for mobilization under the age of 25. At the same time, young men and women between the ages of 18 and 25 can voluntarily join the service in the Defense Forces on a contractual basis.
Refusal of a male student of education, who is recognized as suitable for military service, from the practical training of basic training is the basis for his expulsion from the educational institution in accordance with the legislation., – emphasized the Ministry of Defense.
After completing the BZVP, students take a military oath, receive a certificate and a military accounting specialty. This exempts them from the mandatory basic military service prescribed for men aged 18-25 under current legislation.
In addition, passing the BZVP will be a mandatory condition for employment in the civil service, local self-government bodies and the prosecutor’s office.
