Ukrainian startups can dramatically affect the course of the war, but they need funding: Fedorov

There are promising startups in Ukraine that are able to quickly change the course of events at the front, but their development requires financial support. This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Development of Education, Science and Technology, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov during his speech at Defense Tech Valley.
Fedorov shared information that there are already technologies that can significantly affect Ukraine’s victory in the war with Russia. He mentioned FPV drones, ag drones turned into attack copters, kamikaze boats, Starlink and other types of satellite communications, as well as ground logistics platforms. These technologies already existed before the start of a full-scale war, and their integration could be key to defeating the enemy.
“That is, for today, for sure, I think that there is a technology or technologies that can be integrated with each other that will help us defeat the Russians. It is very important that we know how to predict these technologies.”, he emphasized.
In addition, Fedorov spoke about the creation of a new doctrine for the fight against missiles and drones, the so-called “shaheds”. He noted that Ukraine already uses mobile fire groups equipped with specialized software, sights and acoustic sensors, which allow to detect and react to the flight of drones and missiles. Such a system is distributed and differs from the traditional centralized management of air defense equipment.
Fedorov also emphasized that Ukraine is facing many new challenges, but thanks to quick solutions, innovations and an asymmetric approach, it is possible to deal with them effectively. He emphasized the importance of supporting Ukrainian startups that can quickly change the situation on the battlefield.
“And I emphasize once again that there are startups in Ukraine that can quickly change the situation on the battlefield. They need financial support, we need to encourage and support entrepreneurs who work on these startups,” Fedorov said, calling for financial support for innovative ideas.
