Zelenskyy appointed a new Chief of the General Staff
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Andrii Hnatov as the new chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, replacing Anatoliy Bargylevych in this position. About this reported Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov.
“Today, according to my submission, the President of Ukraine appointed Major General Andriy Viktorovych Hnatov as the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He has over 27 years of military experience, commanded a marine brigade, the troops of the operational command “East” and the Combined Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Also, by his order, he appointed Lieutenant General Anatoliy Vladyslavovich Barhylevych as the Inspector General of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. His task is to monitor compliance with military standards and strengthen military discipline.”, – said the message of the Minister of Defense.
Umerov thanked Barhylevych for his service as Chief of the General Staff, stressing that he “remains in the team.”
“Today, his expertise is necessary for the reform of the Main Inspectorate and the introduction of modern control mechanisms in the Defense Forces, which will increase the discipline, efficiency and combat effectiveness of our troops.” – added the minister.
