Ukrainians detained in Poland on suspicion of kidnapping migrants for ransom (video)

Four Ukrainian citizens suspected of kidnapping migrants in Poland and Latvia for ransom have been detained in Poland. The detention was carried out by employees of the Central Investigative Department of the Police in the city of Zelena Hura, informs RMF24.
All the detainees — three men and one woman aged between 20 and 40 — are accused of participating in kidnapping and illegal border crossing. According to the Polish media, it is about an organized group that was involved in the transportation of migrants entering the EU through Belarus, and the subsequent extortion of money.
In June, the police received reports of the kidnapping of two Ethiopian citizens. The humanitarian organization reported that the men were being held in Poland, threatening to kill them and sell their organs. The attackers demanded a ransom in cryptocurrency and attached photos of bound, naked men. It is known that the victims were taken in the trunk of a car to the city of Lubin, after which demands were sent to their families. The men managed to escape and were handed over to border guards.
Subsequently, the criminals fled to Latvia, where they kidnapped three more citizens of Mali. One of the victims was tied to a tree and severely beaten. Relatives were sent a video of the torture with a ransom demand.
During the investigation, the Polish police established the identity of the attackers and coordinated actions with colleagues from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. At the end of June, three suspects were detained near the city of Ostrów Mazowiecki with the participation of the anti-terrorist unit. On the fourth, in the city of Skvezhina.
