Starting from June 23, 2025, the state-owned “Ukreximbank” will stop serving customers through the Western Union and MoneyGram instant money transfer systems. About this it is said in the official notification of the institution.
“We inform you that from June 23, 2025, Ukreximbank JSC will stop providing instant money transfer services via the Western Union and MoneyGram systems“, the bank said.
In the first quarter of 2025, “Ukreximbank“ increased net profit by 26% compared to the same period last year — up to 2.4 billion hryvnias. According to the results of 2024, “Ukreximbank” recorded a record pre-tax profit of 5.9 billion hryvnias, which is 20.1% more than in 2023. JSC “Ukreximbank” is one of the largest state banks of Ukraine, founded on January 3, 1992 to implement state policy in the spheres of foreign trade, industry, economy and finance. All shares of the bank belong to the state represented by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
According to the National Bank, as of April 2025, “Ukreximbank” ranked third in terms of assets among 60 banks of Ukraine — 311.8 billion hryvnias. In May 2024, Viktor Ponomarenko, who was chosen based on the results of a competitive selection, became the chairman of the bank’s board.
We will remind, in 2024, the volume of internal money transfers through payment systems grew by 83% and reached 1.34 trillion hryvnias (33.2 billion dollars). The largest number of transfers to Ukraine came via Western Union — 37.58% of the total volume. In September last year, it became known that Ukreximbank was closing its offices in Great Britain and the USA in order to optimize operating costs.
