Ukrzaliznytsia will purchase new generation wagons with improved characteristics

“Ukrzaliznytsia” begins the purchase of new generation wagons, which will be characterized by better operational characteristics, a higher level of comfort and a reduced need for service personnel. About this reported the press service of the company.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the railway has faced an acute shortage of passenger cars. Priority is given to the transportation of military personnel, organized children’s groups and medical passengers, therefore the renewal of the rolling stock is extremely urgent.

The new cars are designed to replace the outdated fleet, which was created according to the standards of the 1970s. This will not only reduce maintenance costs, but also improve the overall quality of transportation.

“A total of 100 new carriages will be contracted in 2025, including five new-generation units, a pilot batch for future scaling,” – says the company’s message.

The approximate cost of one wagon will be UAH 95.6 million, and the delivery period will be 2.5 years from the moment of prepayment. We are talking about compartment cars with the function of transformation into SV. One of them will be inclusive: it will have an electric lift, a ramp for a high platform and an enlarged compartment adapted for passengers in wheelchairs.

All wagons will be equipped with air suspension for a smoother ride and reduced vibrations during movement. They will also have automatic sliding doors and sealed floor level transitions between cars. The systems of all cars will be controlled from the train master’s compartment. There are also sockets with USB, type-c and wireless charging for smartphones, a horizontally movable table for the upper shelves, as well as an additional washbasin in the corridor of the car.
