UNESCO and Japan are working together on the restoration of the temple in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

The Church of All Saints in Kyiv will be restored with the support of UNESCO and Japanese funds. The national reserve, where the church is located, announced about the beginning of the preparatory stage of restoration works.
Ukraine received international aid for the restoration of cultural monuments damaged by the war. The Church of All Saints, located in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, entered the list of objects that need attention not only because of destruction, but also because of potential threats in the future.
The restoration of the temple involves three stages: updating the documentation, conservation of paintings and direct restoration work. The reserve has already instructed the designers to restore the necessary documentation for the start of work.
The preparatory stage is currently underway, during which new data on methods of church restoration are being collected and analyzed. As project manager Daryna Nedzelska noted, UNESCO actively supports this project, and together with the shrine’s experts, a technical task has been developed for scientists who will update the documentation and conduct new research.
