US and Saudi Arabia sign $142 billion defense sales deal

During the visit of US President Donald Trump to Saudi Arabia, the parties concluded the largest ever agreement on the sale of defense products worth almost 142 billion dollars. About this informs DW.
The agreements cover five key areas: development of air and space forces; anti-aircraft and anti-missile defense systems; safety at sea and coast; border protection and modernization of ground forces; updating of information and communication technologies.
The White House said that thanks to this agreement, Saudi Arabia will receive advanced military equipment and services from more than a dozen American defense companies. Training and support to increase the defense capability of the Kingdom’s Armed Forces is also provided for.
The arms deal is part of a broader package of cooperation that will see Saudi Arabia invest $600 billion in the U.S. economy. Key projects include DataVolt’s $20 billion investment in AI data centers and energy infrastructure in the US; purchase of gas turbines and equipment from GE Vernova for $14.2 billion; acquisition of Boeing 737-8 passenger aircraft by AviLease for $4.8 billion.
In addition, the American companies Google, Oracle, Salesforce, AMD, Uber, together with DataVolt, have committed to invest 80 billion dollars in the development of advanced technologies in the United States and Saudi Arabia.
Washington and Riyadh have also signed a number of intergovernmental agreements. In particular, the ministries of energy and industry of both countries agreed on cooperation in the field of mining and minerals. Other agreements concern the space sector, the aviation industry, as well as cultural, educational and scientific partnerships.
