US presidential election: the first township releases results

Voting in the small New Hampshire town of Dixville Notch has ended in the presidential election. Kamala Harris and Donald Trump each received three votes, CNN reports.
Elections in a town with a population of only 12 people traditionally attract the attention of journalists, as the results are announced first, closing the polls immediately after midnight. This tradition has existed since 1960. Four Republicans and two independent voters took part in the voting.
In previous presidential elections, Dixville Notch residents supported Democratic candidates. In 2020, all five of the town’s electors voted for Joe Biden, and in 2016, Hillary Clinton received four out of seven votes, while Trump received two and Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson received one vote.
As you know, on 5 November, Americans will elect a new president. The main contenders are Kamala Harris from the Democrats and Donald Trump from the Republicans.
The latest polls show that the ratings of both candidates are almost equal, and the outcome of the election will be determined by seven ‘swing states’ – regions where voters traditionally fluctuate between supporting different parties.
