The US Secretary of Defense ordered to equip a make-up room at the Pentagon
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recently ordered the conversion of a room adjacent to the Pentagon’s briefing room into a dressing room for television broadcasts. About this informs CBS News.
At the beginning of the year, an in-house construction team renovated this space. Before, the room was almost empty: there was a table with chairs, a TV, a few photos of former defense ministers and a mirror on the back of the door. The table was removed, and a new chair and a large lighted makeup mirror were installed in its place.
“Hegset does his own make-up before appearing on television, without paying for the services of a make-up artist”, – noted the representative of the Ministry of Defense,
The idea to improve the space belonged to Tami Radabaugh, deputy assistant secretary for strategic cooperation, who previously worked as a producer for Fox News and CBS News. The update was also supported by the Pentagon’s chief spokesman, Sean Parnell, and the secretary’s wife, Jennifer Hegseth, who also has experience at Fox.
According to the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense, the room will be available for high-ranking officials and guests of honor before communicating with the press. The cost of the work was several thousand dollars. This comes amid the Trump administration’s measures to cut government spending. Initially, the budget of the project exceeded 40 thousand dollars, but it was reduced.
“For this update, we deliberately took a conservative approach and chose some low-cost solutions from available materials,” – added the spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense.
