USAID terminates grant agreement with Ukraine Energy Support Fund

The Secretariat of the Energy Community received an official notification from USAID about the termination of the agreement with the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine regarding the provision of 75 million dollars. Currently, the organization is waiting for additional clarifications from USAID, informs press service of the Energy Community.
The termination of the agreement will reduce the available resources for the purchase of the necessary equipment for the energy sector of Ukraine. The contract was signed in 2023 for $25 million, and in 2024 USAID committed to providing another $50 million.
It will be recalled that on March 10, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the reduction of 83% of USAID programs after a six-week review, noting that the remaining initiatives will be more effectively managed by the State Department.
At the same time, the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is considering the possibility of financing those programs in the field of energy and infrastructure in Ukraine, for which the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) was previously responsible.
