Changes to the law on mobilization: who lost the right to postponement

With the entry into force of the new law on mobilization on May 18, the number of persons entitled to deferment of the draft has decreased. Lawyer Kateryna Anishchenko told about the main changes.
“TCCs will get access to the register of debtors“, said Kateryna Anishchenko.
Who has lost the right to postponement:
- Correspondence students and those obtaining a second higher education. A deferment is granted only to full-time or dual-time students who receive a higher than previous level of education.
- Men aged 25-26 years. The lowering of the conscription age from 27 to 25 years resulted in the loss of the right to deferment for this category.
- Parents with many children with alimony debts. TCCs will have access to the register of debtors.
- Persons who take care of the spouse’s parents with disabilities of the I or II group. The deferral is maintained only for those who care for their own parents.
- Half-brothers of fallen soldiers. The deferral remains only for siblings.
- Men who have the right to a deferment can join the ranks of the Armed Forces at their own will, but will not be able to serve only at the place of residence.
We will remind that Deputy Minister of Defense Kateryna Chernogorenko announced the possibility of applying for a postponement online through the “Reserve+” application until the end of the summer.
