The USA wants the war in Ukraine, which was started by Russia, to end and a long-term peace to come. About this stated US Vice President JD Vance after a meeting with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi within the framework of the Munich Conference.
“We want the killing to stop, but we want a lasting peace, not one that will see Eastern Europe also at war in a few years.”, Vance noted.
He informed that the delegations of the USA and Ukraine held a number of conversations. Vance also announced other talks “in the coming days, weeks and months.”
In turn, Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the USA for its support and confirmed Vance’s words:
“We have more to talk about, more to work on, and more to prepare a plan to stop Vladimir Putin and end the war. In fact, we really want to, but we need real security guarantees and we will continue our meetings and work.
Our teams will continue working on the document. We have discussed many key issues and look forward to the special representative of US President Donald Trump on Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, in Ukraine for further meetings and a deeper assessment of the situation on the ground.”
