Verkhovna Rada proposes to allow men over 60 years old to go on a contract to the Armed Forces of Ukraine

A draft law was registered in the Verkhovna Rada, which proposes to provide citizens aged 60 and older with the opportunity to voluntarily enter into contracts with the Defense Forces of Ukraine. About this reported initiator of changes, secretary of the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Roman Kostenko.
Military personnel who have reached the age of 60 will be able to enter into contracts for a period of one year with the possibility of further extension. For officers of this age group, signing a contract is possible only if their candidacy is approved by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. There is also a two-month trial period, and if the results are unsatisfactory, the contract will be cancelled.
Kostenko explained that the draft law is a response to public demand, because many motivated and experienced people want to be useful in the conditions of war, but the current legislation limits them in this.
“We have to use the potential of everyone who is ready to fight for victory”, he emphasized.
We will remind that on March 31, the deputy head of the Zaporizhia regional TCC and SP Andriy Yakunin reported that conscripts over the age of 50, who were found fit for service, are usually sent to the rear units and support units. In particular, they can be involved in the construction of fortifications, as well as in the performance of tasks as drivers or crane operators in the relevant units.
