Basic general military training (BZVP) in Ukrainian universities will be taught by veterans with combat experience who have a master’s degree. The government is preparing a corresponding program, reported Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi.
“This program will start on September 1, so now we are preparing this profile, who should be recruited. This is about the whole country, all universities. Locals can be recruited for this, so residents of the regions will be employed.”, the minister explained.
According to Lisovoy, there is currently a need for 600 specialists to teach BZVP to students at universities.
“It is important to have a higher education, a master’s degree. The theoretical part of BZVP will be taught by people who are employed at universities, the practical part – training grounds.” – said the minister.
He added that, if necessary, veterans will be helped to obtain the necessary scientific degree in the field of pedagogy, but did not specify what such support would be.
Lisovyi also emphasized that veterans can be involved in work in centers that conduct military training for schoolchildren. He reminded that after the introduction of the updated school course “Defense of Ukraine” this subject is no longer taught in schools. Instead, students are trained in specially created centers.
“It is not a physical education teacher who teaches “Defense of Ukraine” for 0.25 rates, but a professional person works with different groups of children with nine modules for eight hours every day. There is no military training and a minimum of time is allocated to study the statutes, and people with practical combat experience and abilities can be involved in teaching.” – stressed Oksen Lisovyi.
