WHO calls on China to share information on the emergence of coronavirus

The World Health Organization (WHO) has asked China to provide data and provide access to investigate the origins of COVID-19. About this informs The Guardian. у

“We continue to call on China to share data and provide access so we can understand the origins of Covid-19. This is a moral and scientific imperative.” – says the WHO statement.

The pandemic, which has claimed more than seven million lives, has severely damaged the global economy and health systems. WHO emphasizes that without transparency and international cooperation, the world will not be able to effectively counter future epidemics.

The organization recalled that 5 years ago on December 31, 2019, its representative office in China first received information about cases of “viral pneumonia” in Wuhan, which became the beginning of the global fight against the new disease.

“In the weeks, months and years that followed, Covid-19 began to shape our lives and our world,” the health agency said.

On the anniversary of the start of the pandemic, the organization called for honoring the memory of those whose lives have been changed or lost due to COVID-19, to express condolences to those affected, in particular those who still suffer from the long-term effects of the disease, and to recognize the significant contribution of health workers who have fought tirelessly for the lives of millions of people.
