Yermak said that the Russian Federation can follow the example of the Republic of Congo and Rwanda in restoring peace

Russia can take as an example the process of restoring peace based on the principle of the joint declaration between the Republic of Congo and Rwanda on the settlement of the long-term conflict on the African continent. About this stated head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak.

“We welcome the important result in restoring peace on the African continent, achieved thanks to the mediation of the United States. On April 25, in Washington, a Declaration of Principles was signed between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which paves the way for the settlement of the multi-year conflict in the Great Lakes region.” Yermak noted.

According to him, the basis for a peaceful settlement was the universally recognized principles of international law recorded in the UN Charter, which are the basis of agreements between Rwanda, the Republic of Congo and the United States as a mediator. Among them: mutual recognition of sovereignty, territorial integrity and state borders, striving to resolve disputes through diplomatic means and negotiations, as well as refraining from interfering in each other’s internal affairs.

“Russia can follow this example, stop its tactics of manipulation, delay and terror against the civilian population of Ukraine, and agree to a full and unconditional ceasefire as the first step towards ending the war against Ukraine.” Yermak emphasized.

Applying the principles of the UN Charter to end the war in Europe is just as possible as it is to settle conflicts on the African continent.
