YouTube earned almost $10 billion from advertising in the second quarter of 2025

The YouTube platform earned $9.8 billion in advertising revenue in the second quarter of 2025, up 13% from $8.7 billion in the same period in 2024. These numbers given in the quarterly report of parent company Alphabet.
The figure beat analysts’ forecasts for YouTube revenue of around $9.6 billion. According to a Nielsen report, the video platform has been ranked number one in TV viewership for three consecutive quarters, capturing 12.4% of all TV viewing time.
Amid YouTube’s success, other streaming services, including HBO Max and Amazon Prime Video, have ramped up their advertising campaigns, ramping up ad placements to drive growth. At the same time, Netflix is increasingly confidently positioning itself as YouTube’s main competitor.
During its earnings call last week, it announced plans to double ad revenue this year. Although the platform does not officially disclose exact financial indicators in this area, the analyst of the company Madison & Wall estimates its advertising revenue at the level of about 3 billion dollars.
As a reminder, on July 21, YouTube Music introduced an update that allows you to listen to unfinished songs on any device. The new functionality covers several tracks at once that were started earlier.
