Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is hoping for international pressure on Russia to end the war this fall on terms favorable to Ukraine. informs edition of EFE.
According to information, Zelensky understands the difficult situation at the front and the risk of a decrease in military support from some key allies. In this regard, he has developed a one-sided road map for ending the war, which relies on diplomatic pressure on Russia. The goal is to achieve peace on terms acceptable to Kyiv.
As the newspaper reports, Zelensky first shared the details of his “victory plan” on August 27. The president noted that the plan is built in such a way that its implementation depends on the support of Ukraine’s partners, and not on Russia’s will or unwillingness to make concessions.
A key component of this plan will be the successful operation of the Ukrainian military in the Kursk region. In addition, Kyiv is working on organizing the second Peace Summit by the end of the year, to which, unlike the first, it is planned to invite Russia as well.
According to journalists, the purpose of this meeting is to put pressure on Moscow and encourage it to agree to peace on Ukrainian terms. While it is unclear whether the “victory plan” will be the central document at this summit, its discussion will be key.
“It is clear from the statements of Zelenskyi and other Ukrainian politicians that the purpose of the second meeting is to put pressure on Russia to agree to peace on the terms proposed by Kyiv in the document – which may or may not be the so-called “victory plan” – which he will present at the summit”, – writes the publication.
However, the effectiveness of this approach largely depends on the position of such influential countries as China and India, which still do not use their influence on Russia to force it to leave the occupied Ukrainian territories, as Zelensky demands.
