Zelenskyy appointed Zalishchuk as Ukraine’s ambassador to Sweden

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, appointed Svitlana Zalishchuk as the Ambassador of Ukraine to Sweden. Appropriate decision approved by decree of the head of state No. 556/2025 of July 28.
“To appoint Zalishchuk Svitlana Petrivna as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Sweden”, — stated in the document.
Svitlana Zalishchuk has experience in media and politics. In 2014, she became a People’s Deputy on the list of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc party, where she headed the subcommittee on Euro-Atlantic cooperation and European integration within the Verkhovna Rada Committee on International Affairs.
During the extraordinary parliamentary elections of 2019, Zalishchuk ran as a self-nominated candidate in district No. 199 in Cherkasy region, but did not make it to the Verkhovna Rada. In November of the same year, she became an adviser to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk. Since May 2021, she has held the position of adviser to the head of the board of Naftogaz of Ukraine on international issues.
We will remind you that on July 21, Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Andriy Plahotniuk from the position of ambassador of Ukraine to Sweden, at the same time appointing him ambassador to Canada and representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on a part-time basis. As Plahotniuk stated, Ukraine has a significant interest in the possibility of Sweden supplying Gripen fighters. According to him, this is “a matter of human survival.”
