In 3 months, Ukraine lost as much electricity as Slovakia and the Baltic countries together consume

Constant shelling of the energy infrastructure causes unprecedented damage to Ukraine. During the spring, electricity generation losses were equivalent to the combined electricity consumption of Slovakia and the Baltic states for three months. In order to minimize losses in the future, it is necessary to diversify the energy sector – to build a large number of small power plants, emphasizes the head of “Ukrenergo” Volodymyr Kudrytskyi.
According to the chairman of the board of the NEC “Ukrenergo”, it is necessary to act in this direction immediately.
“Russian attacks on energy facilities are likely to continue. And we have to be ready, we have to restore as much generation as possible before winter. We have to ask for additional air defense to protect what we are restoring. But we also have to deploy new generating capacity , to make sure that if the Russians carry out these attacks again, they will not be able to concentrate on 10 or 15 large power plants, but will deal with a huge number of small ones. And here we approach the question of decentralization of generation after the war, but now, we must start right now.”, – speak Volodymyr Kudrytskyi.
As a result of seven recent attacks by Russian forces on energy facilities, Ukraine lost approximately 9 gigawatts of generation capacity.
