Zelenskyy named the main condition for easing sanctions against the Russian Federation
Easing the sanctions of Western countries against Russia is possible only if Moscow fulfills the main demand — the withdrawal of troops from the territory of Ukraine. About this stated President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi during a speech at the Eurocouncil.
The head of the Ukrainian state called on the leaders of European countries not to relax the pressure on Russia, stressing that the sanctions remain “very, very necessary.”
“Sanctions must remain in place until Russia begins to withdraw its troops from our soil and redress the damage caused by its aggression. I urge you to continue to fight against sanctions circumvention schemes and Russia’s attempts to finance its military actions.”, — noted Zelensky.
The president emphasized that the continuation of diplomatic efforts to end the war does not mean the possibility of reducing pressure on Russia. Remaining decisive is important in order to minimize the risk of deception by the Russian Federation.
“We all know how easily Moscow breaks its promises – one moment they give their word, and a few hours later it means nothing. That is why we must continue to push Russia towards peace. Together with you, of course, with the United States and our other partners, we can do it.” Zelensky added.
