Zelenskyy warned of possible gas shortage in Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi stated, that as a result of large-scale Russian attacks on gas infrastructure, Ukraine may face a gas shortage.
“There were massive attacks on gas storage facilities and mining facilities. We lost part of our capabilities, which we are now gradually restoring.” – emphasized the head of state.
According to Zelenskyi, Ukraine has already secured a part of the required gas volume, but approximately half of the resource is still missing to fully cover the needs.
“We agreed with the Minister of Energy that we will look for opportunities to close this deficit, which may be if everything is not restored, if we cannot fully provide gas to our population.” – the president explained.
He also noted that we are talking about the purchase of gas for an estimated amount of 1 billion euros, and added that this issue is already being discussed with the Prime Minister of Norway.
As a reminder, Ukraine may soon start importing gas through the Trans-Balkan Corridor, in addition to the already existing routes from Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. This was reported by former Minister of Energy Olga Buslavets.
“Five GTS operators in the Greece-Ukraine direction (GR, BL, RO, MO, UA) initiated the ROUT1 product with tariffs reduced by 25%, which, in case of quick approval by the regulators, can “unblock” the most expensive gas import route to Ukraine“, said Buslavets.
