44% of Ukrainians are in favor of negotiations, but the majority are against meeting Putin’s conditions: survey
In the west of Ukraine, the lowest rate of support for such an idea is 35%, while in the south, 60% of respondents are in favor of negotiations.

The Razumkov Center conducted a survey from June 20 to 28, 2024, the results of which showed that 44% of residents of the rear of Ukraine believe that the time has come to start official peace talks with Russia. At the same time, 35% of respondents do not agree with this. The majority of respondents also do not agree with the conditions proposed by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.
According to a study conducted on order ZN.UA, almost half (49%) of the residents of central Ukraine will calmly accept the news about the start of negotiations with Russia. The lowest level of support for the negotiations was found in the west of the country – only 35%.

The data from the east of Ukraine, where the population suffers daily from Russian attacks, are particularly revealing. Only 33% of residents of the eastern regions are ready for negotiations, while 34% are opposed and 32% are still undecided. In the south of Ukraine, 60% of respondents believe that the time for official negotiations with Russia has come, which is 16% higher than the national average.
Despite this, the majority of Ukrainians do not agree with the fulfillment of the conditions put forward by Vladimir Putin on the eve of the Peace Summit. In particular, 83% of respondents do not support the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, and 84% oppose the transfer of these territories to the aggressor.
Also, 77% of Ukrainians do not agree with the cancellation of all Western sanctions against Russia. Regarding the neutral, non-aligned non-nuclear status of Ukraine, recorded in the Constitution, opinions differed: 58% against, 22% for.
In western Ukraine, only 9% of respondents allow making such changes to the Constitution. In the center, this indicator is 25%, in the east – 23%. The greatest support for neutrality is observed in the south – 39% of residents of this region are ready to support this status, and people aged 60+ are more inclined to neutrality.

The publication ZN.UA focuses on the fact that residents of the rear part of Ukraine were interviewed, since the main part of volunteers and soldiers is at the front. Because of this, the results of the study cannot fully reflect the opinion of the entire country, but only the opinion of the rear.
