A new modular shelter “Citadel” was presented in Ukraine

In Ukraine presented the “Citadel” project is one of the options for modular steel shelters designed to protect the civilian population during shelling. The initiative is implemented by the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine with the support of the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.
The modules are designed taking into account the specifics of the educational environment: they are cylindrical structures with a diameter of 2.4 meters, which are submerged to a depth of up to 5 meters. Each of them can accommodate up to 48 people and can be part of a more complex configuration. Inside there are places for sitting or resting, ventilation, lighting, bathroom. The shelters have autonomous support, a complete ventilation system, hermetic construction, resistance to shelling and have already passed tests with the participation of the military and the State Emergency Service.
“Safe shelters for people today are a vital necessity. Modular shelters are now the most optimal option. Ukrainian business can produce hundreds of such shelters per month. And their assembly is carried out in 3-5 days. The cost of a modular shelter for 100 people is 220,000 euros including assembly. It is almost six times less than previously developed ones.” Serhiy Sukhomlyn, head of the State Agency for Reconstruction, emphasized.
According to him, modular shelters for communities can vary in shape, appearance and capacity, according to needs. They can be installed in hospitals, at enterprises, in residential areas, in particular in front-line areas. The installation lasts only a few days, which allows to quickly increase the level of protection of the population where it is most necessary.
