Amendments to the legislation on the confiscation of unjustified assets of members of the Military Medical Commission are being prepared: SAPO

Anti-corruption bodies are working on changes to the legislation that will allow confiscation of unsubstantiated assets of members of the Military Medical Commissions for the benefit of the state. About this reported head of SAP Oleksandr Klymenko.

According to him, SAP, together with NABU and NAZK, is engaged in improving the mechanism of agreements, as well as developing legislative changes that will expand the list of persons to whom the confiscation procedure can be applied.

“We want to work out legislative changes that will allow us to file lawsuits against a larger number of subjects, in particular, regarding the inclusion of employees of military medical commissions, in whom society has seen the possible presence of unjustified assets. It’s worth checking them out”Klymenko noted.

Last year, SAP filed 12 lawsuits with the VAKS regarding the confiscation of illegally acquired property, eight of which were satisfied, and the rest are still pending. This year, SAP has already filed five lawsuits for recovery of unsubstantiated assets. Also, anti-corruption authorities are working on changes to the legislation that will prevent the prolongation of court proceedings in cases involving significant assets that can be confiscated by court order.

“We are working on a draft law that will improve the criminal process and make it impossible to prolong the abuse of defendants’ rights when their cases are considered for ten years and are closed due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.” Klymenko added.

We will remind that at the beginning of February, SAP appealed to the High Anti-Corruption Court with a lawsuit to declare assets worth more than 3.4 million hryvnias, which belong to the family of the former head of the district TCC and JV Kharkiv, as unfounded, and their recovery in favor of the state.
