Anthropic’s AI leads in popularity among business users

Analytical company Menlo Ventures published a new report ranking the most popular AI models for business. According to the study, it is the models from Anthropic that are currently the most popular among business users.

According to the report, Anthropic’s market share of large language models among companies has reached 32%, while OpenAI is in second place with 25%. In comparison, OpenAI had 50% of this market in 2023, while Anthropic’s share was only 12%.

Anthropic’s growth has been particularly notable in the programming space, with the company controlling 42% of the enterprise coding tools segment — double OpenAI’s 21% share. Analysts attribute this dynamic to the successful launch of the Claude 3.5 Sonnet model in June 2024 and the appearance of the Claude 3.7 Sonnet in February 2025.

The report also found that most companies prefer closed AI models, such as those offered by Anthropic and OpenAI. Only 13% of daily enterprise tasks in mid-2025 are performed using open source models — up from 19% at the start of the year. In this segment, the Meta company retains its leadership.

Despite this, OpenAI continues to lead the way in terms of mass adoption, with the company recently reporting that ChatGPT receives more than 2.5 billion requests per day worldwide.
