Argentina announces exposure of Russian spy network

Argentina’s State Secretariat for Intelligence (SIDE) has published the results of an investigation that exposed a spy network operating on the country’s territory in the interests of Russia. About this informsThe Right Daily.
The network included Russian citizens and local residents engaged in disinformation and recruiting for the Kremlin.
Agents of the Argentine secret service discovered a structure called “La Compañía” associated with “Project Lakhta”, an international program directed by Yevgeny Prigozhin (died August 2023) and which appears in numerous investigations for attempts to interfere in elections and exert psychological influence around the world.
The head of the cell in Argentina was Lev Kostiantynovych Andriashvili, a Russian citizen who, together with his wife Iryna Yakovenko, coordinated the activities of the network. They ensured the flow of funding from Moscow and built contacts with Argentinians who share pro-Russian positions.
“The purpose of “La Compañía” was to form a group of people devoted to the interests of Russia”, – said the presidential spokesman Manuel Adorni.
The main task of the group was to conduct information campaigns and influential operations that were supposed to destabilize the country’s institutional foundations. The special service emphasized that such activity not only violates national sovereignty, but also exposes Argentine society to external pressure that deliberately distorts public discourse and democratic processes.
The investigation is ongoing, and it is possible that other persons may be involved in the activities of the network. In the conditions of growing international tension, Argentina faces new challenges in the field of counterintelligence and cyber defense.
