ARMA found 1 billion hryvnias misappropriated through corruption in public procurement

The Agency for Search and Asset Management reported the discovery of 1 billion hryvnias related to a large-scale corruption scheme organized by state administration officials together with commercial companies. About this informs ARMA press office.

Assets were searched at the request of a law enforcement agency. According to the investigation, the officials, acting in collusion with contractors, abused their official position and embezzled funds during public procurement.

Employees of the Department of Digital Development, Identification and Tracing of Assets of ARMA have located non-residential real estate, vehicles, as well as more than 1 billion hryvnias in the accounts of companies involved in the scheme. All collected information was transferred to the appropriate law enforcement agency for further seizure of property and procedural support.

“Such results are a confirmation that ARMA has the necessary tools and professional personnel potential to detect complex schemes for the withdrawal of public funds. The national agency systematically works to ensure that the money that should work for society does not end up in the pockets of corrupt officials, but works for the state.” – noted ARMA Deputy Chairman Pavlo Velikorechanin.

It will be recalled that on June 19, ARMA appealed to law enforcement agencies in connection with the information received about the possible operation of a gambling establishment in the House of Trade Unions on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv. According to the agency, since 2019, the Pokerbet sports and poker club has been renting premises with an area of 1,032 square meters in this building. At the beginning, the rent was $22,000 per month.
