ATB, Fora and Ukrzaliznytsia: which companies were included in the list of the largest employers in Ukraine
According to the data Index of the largest employers of Ukraine by region, the first place is held by JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”. The company provides jobs to more than 187,600 Ukrainians. The carrier is the largest employer in Kyiv and in Ukraine as a whole. Also among the top five leaders in the labor market are the ATB and Fora networks, Vigydna korpula and the Motor Sich company.
Ukrzaliznytsia does not lose positions
Ukrzaliznytsia managed to maintain its leadership in the rating, despite the fact that since the beginning of the full-scale war, the company’s workforce has decreased by 11%. Among the reasons for the reduction are the occupation of part of the country’s territory, population migration both across Ukraine and abroad. In addition, more than 10,000 company employees joined the ranks of the Armed Forces.
Currently, the carrier is making efforts to reduce the outflow of employees.
“In 2024, Ukrzaliznytsia will focus on creating conditions for the retention of employees in the company. In particular, a separate policy has already been implemented for the return of veterans to work, and it is planned to expand support programs for employees and their family members who suffered as a result of the war. Another important task is to create a system motivation to attract young people, which will include assistance to vocational training institutions in resuming their work,” said Olena Gavura, director of the HR department of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”.
Several supermarket chains are among the leaders
3 supermarket chains are among the top 5 largest employers. In particular, “ATB-Market” LLC is in the second place, “Vigydna pokpilka” LLC (stores under the “Aurora” brand) is in fourth place, and “Fora” LLC (Fozzy Group – “Fora”, “Silpo” supermarkets) is fifth , Fozzy).
ATB takes the first place in Dnipropetrovsk region. The company employs 44,000 people there. This is the second place in the ranking of the largest employers of Ukraine by region.
Starting in February 2022, ATB-Market LLC had to reduce its staff by 10%. During the war, the company began to look for new business strategies. In particular, cooperation with local producers in the regions was expanded. In this way, costs for transporting products have decreased, more small producers have received profitable contracts, and the carbon footprint of products sold online has also decreased. In this way, it was also possible to achieve environmental goals.
“The company learned to be flexible, quickly adapt and respond to changing market conditions. After the start of the full-scale invasion, ATB expanded cooperation with local manufacturers, signing more than 100 contracts with them, and also established direct supply of the necessary goods from Poland, the Baltic countries and Turkey,” – they note company representatives.
Industry and energy
Industrial enterprises were included in the list of labor market leaders. Thus, PJSC “Motor Sich” takes the first place in the Zaporizhzhia region and the third in Ukraine. Ukrainian manufacturer of helicopters and aircraft engines 14.5 thousand Ukrainians.
The “OKKO” gas station network, which provided employment to 6,300 citizens in Lviv region alone, was among the top ten employment leaders.
Vinnytsia Poultry Farm is in seventh place. The eighth position in the rating is occupied by Pokrovske Mine Management, and the ninth by the oil and gas company “West Petrol Market” LLC. Tenth place was taken by JSC “Kharkivoblenergo”.
