Almost half of the hospitals damaged as a result of hostilities were repaired

As of February 24, 2022, more than 1,600 premises of medical institutions in Ukraine were destroyed as a result of hostilities. At the same time, 211 hospitals were completely destroyed – these premises are no longer subject to restoration. Despite the continuation of the war, Ukrainians are rebuilding hospitals in those areas where it is currently possible from a security point of view. Half of the premises of the damaged medical facilities have already been completely or partially repaired.

517 buildings of hospitals and other medical institutions were completely restored. Partial repairs have already been carried out in 353 premises.

In addition to buildings, the war also damaged vehicles and hospital equipment. As a result of the hostilities, 261 emergency medical vehicles were destroyed. Another 125 “fast” cars were exposed by the Russians. In addition, 166 cars were damaged.

“The greatest losses were incurred by medical facilities in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions. Currently, it is impossible to obtain comprehensive information on the degree of destruction of hospitals in the temporarily occupied territories. Most facilities have currently been restored in the Mykolaiv region, Dnipropetrovsk region, Kyiv region, Kharkiv region, and Chernihiv region Work on the restoration of Ukrainian medical institutions will continue,” said Ministry of Health.

As a reminder, 13% of all buildings of educational institutions in Ukraine were also destroyed due to hostilities. These are schools, kindergartens, universities, after-school education institutions and other premises. In total, 380 objects were destroyed, that is, they are no longer subject to restoration. More than 3,400 schools, kindergartens and other institutions were damaged.

To restore all educational institutions, the state will need at least 6.8 billion US dollars.
