Business is coming out of the shadows: the number of payments through cash registers increased by 16%

Ukrainian business is gradually coming out of the shadows. The number of cash registers in shops, recreation facilities, hotel and restaurant businesses, beauty salons, etc. is increasing. The number of payments through cash registers is also increasing.
During the past month, Ukrainians made 815 million purchases that involved receiving a fiscal check. That is, Ukrainian stores and other establishments issue more than 26 million checks every day. Thus, in just one month, the number of so-called “white” sales transactions increased by 16%.
The total cost of purchases or payment of services based on these fiscal documents reached almost 360 billion hryvnias in May.
“The detinization of trade continues successfully. The number of registered settlement transaction registrars (RSS) is also growing steadily every month. In May 2024, their number increased to 898,000. Thus, since the beginning of the year, the monthly volume of “white” transactions has increased by 16%, which directly indicates on the detinization of the economy”, – noted Danilo Getmancev, head of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy.

Intensification of inspections also contributed to the exposure of shady schemes and the return of business to “clean” profits. For example, the exposure of the “black grain” export scheme, the inspection and taxation of online casinos, and the exposure of five factories where counterfeit tobacco products were produced showed a noticeable effect.
Over-implementation of the plan by the tax service during the first four months of 2024 was 12.6%. That is, the budget received 38.2 billion hryvnias morethan expected. The customs office also overachieved revenue plans. During January-April, 8.4% or 14.4 billion hryvnias more than previously planned were received in this direction.
