BEB reported suspicion to organizers of large-scale production of counterfeit coffee

Detectives of the Territorial Administration of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Kyiv region reported about the suspicion of the organizer and five of his accomplices, who set up a large-scale production of counterfeit coffee and sold it under the guise of products of well-known global brands.
According to the investigation materials, the suspects did not have any contracts, licenses or other permits for the use of trademarks, but they organized the large-scale production of counterfeit coffee products in warehouses in the territory of Kyiv region.
Counterfeit coffee was sold as original coffee both wholesale and retail via the Internet, retail outlets, and local markets. In addition, according to available information, the participants of the scheme legalized more than 100 million hryvnias obtained as a result of illegal activities.
In the course of investigative actions, law enforcement officers seized equipment for the production, processing and packaging of coffee, printing equipment, finished products, cash, computers, mobile phones, documents and draft records that testify to illegal activity. 11 luxury cars were also seized, including Maserati Quattroporte, Mercedes-Benz S 65, Ford Explorer, Dodge Durango, Dodge Charger, Chrysler 300 S, Chrysler 300, CHEVROLET CORVETTE and others.
The organizer and five members of the group were charged with suspicion under 3 Art. 229 and ch. 3 Art. 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Previously, BEB detectives, together with the cyber police, already conducted searches at one of the factories of this network, during which equipment and finished products worth more than 20 million hryvnias were seized. However, part of the property was returned by court order, which allowed the suspects to resume illegal production.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Operative support is provided by employees of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police, procedural management is provided by the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
