Britain will allocate $2 billion to Ukraine for the purchase of missiles for air defense

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the allocation of $2 billion to Ukraine for the purchase of more than 5,000 anti-aircraft missiles for air defense systems. This was stated by the British Prime Minister after the summit in London, dedicated to strengthening the defense capabilities of Europe and supporting Ukraine, informs Sky News.
In addition to the £2.2 billion loan announced on March 1, Starmer announced an additional $2 billion in funding under Britain’s export finance program. This will enable Ukraine to purchase more than 5,000 anti-aircraft missiles, which will be produced in Belfast.
According to the British Prime Minister, this assistance is key to protecting Ukraine’s critical infrastructure now and strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities in the future:
“This will be vital to protecting critical infrastructure now and will strengthen Ukraine in securing peace when it comes, because we must learn from the mistakes of the past. We cannot accept a weak agreement like the Minsk agreements, which Russia can easily violate.”
Starmer also stressed that “the first priority of this government, like any other, is the safety of the British people to protect the national interest, especially in these uncertain times.”
