Criminal cases against the military: the people’s deputy revealed the main types of crimes

The State Bureau of Investigation is currently considering more than 80,000 criminal cases related to violations by military personnel of their official duties. About this reported people’s deputy Ruslan Horbenko on the broadcast of Novosti.LIVE.

“This topic is quite complicated, but the SBI is currently investigating more than 80,000 cases of violations of official duties among the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This includes cases of voluntary desertion of a military unit (SZH) and refusal to perform duties”, — explained Ruslan Horbenko.

According to the deputy, today there are about a million people in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He also added that in the case of voluntary abandonment of a part, an employee of the TCC has the legal right to detain such a serviceman.

It should be noted that at the end of 2022, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a draft law that strengthens the criminal liability of military personnel. It provides for more severe punishments for voluntarily leaving a military unit, place of service or battlefield, desertion, refusal to act with weapons, disobedience and failure to perform combat tasks.

According to the new law, servicemen face imprisonment from 3 to 12 years, and the possibility of early release and probation in these cases has been abolished. After the adoption of the law, the courts issue sentences of actual imprisonment for at least five years every month.
