Currency exchangers increased tax payments by 26%

In the first quarter of 2025, companies engaged in currency exchange declared advance income tax payments in the amount of UAH 240.7 million — this is 26.3% more than in the corresponding period of 2024, when this amount was UAH 190.6 million. About this reported Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Danylo Hetmantsev.

During January-May 2025, the total amount of advance contributions to the budget reached UAH 429.5 million, which is UAH 102.1 million higher than in the same period last year. Of these, additional revenues from exchange offices for the first quarter amounted to UAH 73.2 million.

As of June 1, 2025, 3,701 currency exchange points belonging to 57 companies are registered in the official register.

“At the same time, a large number of illegal exchangers, where you can exchange anything for anything, settlement centers through which you can transfer anything to anywhere. Of course, anonymously and without taxes. As an experiment, I asked my assistants to check points on Saksaganskyi Street in Kyiv. Among two dozen very visible exchangers with advertising signs, only a few are official.” Hetmantsev noted.

We will remind, as of June 1, 2025, the total volume of deposits of individuals, including individual entrepreneurs, in Ukrainian banks reached 1.44 trillion UAH. In May, the total increase in funds on citizens’ deposits amounted to UAH 12.6 billion. If we take into account only real growth without the influence of currency revaluation, then this amount reaches UAH 13 billion. At the same time, the revaluation of the hryvnia equivalent of foreign currency deposits was negative and amounted to UAH 0.4 billion.

From the total amount, the national currency amounted to UAH 933 billion, which is UAH 14.8 billion more than in the previous month, and currency deposits decreased by UAH 2.2 billion to UAH 507.8 billion.
