UAH 1,461.3 billion – the state and state-guaranteed debt of Ukraine has increased by that much in 2024. About this it is said in the Information Guide on the state and state-guaranteed debt of Ukraine of the Ministry of Finance.
As of December 31, 2024, the state and state-guaranteed debt of Ukraine amounted to UAH 6,980.93 billion, which is equivalent to USD 166.06 billion. The total amount of debt is distributed as follows:
State and state-guaranteed foreign debt amounted to UAH 5,048.44 billion, which is 72.32% of the total amount of debt, or 120.09 billion US dollars. At the same time, the state and state-guaranteed domestic debt was equal to UAH 1,932.49 billion, which is 27.68% of the total amount, or 45.97 billion US dollars.
The total amount of the state debt of Ukraine was 6,692.42 billion UAH, which is equivalent to 159.20 billion US dollars, or 95.87% of the total amount of state and state-guaranteed debt. In this structure, the state external debt amounted to 4,829.29 billion UAH, or 114.88 billion US dollars, which is equal to 69.18% of the total amount of debt. The national internal debt was equal to 1,863.13 billion UAH, or 44.32 billion US dollars, which is 26.69% of the total amount of the national debt.
The state-guaranteed debt of Ukraine amounted to 288.51 billion UAH, which is 4.13% of the total amount, or 6.86 billion US dollars. In this category, the state-guaranteed external debt amounted to UAH 219.15 billion, or USD 5.21 billion, which is equal to 3.14% of the total amount of debt. At the same time, the domestic debt guaranteed by the state amounted to 69.36 billion UAH, or 1.65 billion US dollars, which is 0.99% of the total amount.
«During 2024, the total volume of the state and state-guaranteed debt of Ukraine increased by 1,461.30 billion UAH in hryvnia equivalent and by 20.74 billion US dollars in dollar equivalent“, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement.
The amount of state and guaranteed debt is calculated as the sum of the outstanding nominal value of debt obligations in the currency of the credit or loan. The state of state and state-guaranteed debt is determined in hryvnias and US dollars according to the official rate of the National Bank of Ukraine established on the last day of the reporting period, taking into account all transactions carried out on that day.
