“Either resign or shut up”: Trump on negotiations to end the war in Ukraine

US President Donald Trump said that, in his opinion, negotiations to end the war in Ukraine are going well, but “there is a moment when you just have to put up or shut up.” He told reporters on board Air Force One, informs Reuters.

Trump also noted:

“I think that everything will be fine between Ukraine and Russia, and you will soon find out about it.”

The president’s comments came a day after he expressed disappointment with Russia’s actions and urged it to move toward a deal. Reuters notes that Trump is showing signs of losing patience and is considering secondary sanctions against countries that buy Russian oil if Moscow drags out negotiations.

It will be recalled that on April 11, Trump’s representative Steve Witkoff held talks with Vladimir Putin regarding the settlement of the situation in Ukraine. According to Reuters, the American-Russian dialogue on the cessation of hostilities is currently complicated by disagreements over the conditions for a complete cessation of hostilities.

The Trump administration also confirmed that it has received a mandate from voters to change policies on border security and international conflict resolution.
