Google launches tool to detect AI-generated content
During the I/O conference, the company Google presented a new tool called SynthID Detector, which allows you to determine whether content has been created using artificial intelligence.
SynthID Detector acts as a “verification portal” capable of quickly detecting the presence of SynthID watermarks in images, videos, audio or texts. These digital tags are embedded in content generated by Gemini, Imagen, Lyria and Veo AI models.
Users can upload a file to the system, after which the tool analyzes it and selects those fragments where the probability of the presence of a watermark is the highest. For example, in the case of audio, it can be separate sound segments, and for images – specific areas.
Currently, Google has started testing the new service in a limited format. In the future, the instrument will be available to a wider audience by appointment. The company emphasizes that its goal is to ensure transparency of AI content and provide users with a reliable means of verifying the source.
During the same I/O 2025 conference, Google also announced a new AI Ultra tariff for $250 per month, a real-time translation feature in Google Meet, a generator of Stitch interfaces, smart glasses in collaboration with Xreal, a tool for automatic creation of passwords in Chrome, an updated image generator Imagen 4 and new local models of artificial intelligence Gemma 3n, which can even work on smartphones.
