Europe is ready to provide Ukraine with security guarantees: NATO Secretary General

Europe is ready and eager to lead the process of providing security guarantees to Ukraine. This is according to the results of an informal meeting of European leaders in Paris stated NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
“Ready and fulfilled wishes. This is my conclusion from today’s meeting in Paris. Europe is ready and wants to take a step forward. To lead the provision of security guarantees for Ukraine. It is ready and wants to invest much more in our security. The details will still have to be agreed, but the commitments are clear.” – said Rutte.
The Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Dick Schoof, who also participated in the meeting, emphasized that the responsibility after reaching the truce between Ukraine and Russia should be taken not only by Ukraine, but also by Europe.
“I discussed this with several of my European colleagues at an informal meeting called by the French president in Paris. Everyone feels a great sense of urgency. At this crucial time for the security of Europe, we must continue to support Ukraine. It is also in the interests of the Netherlands. Europe will have to do its part contribution to the defense of any agreement, and cooperation with the Americans is very important.” Schof emphasized.
We will remind that on the evening of February 17, the leaders of France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Great Britain, as well as representatives of the EU and NATO gathered in Paris. The initiator of emergency consultations was French President Emmanuel Macron. The negotiations took place against the background of US initiatives regarding a possible settlement of the war waged by Russia against Ukraine, without the involvement of EU representatives.
