US Embassy in Israel suspends operations over Iran bombing
The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem will remain closed until at least June 20 due to the critical security situation caused by shelling from Iran. About this informs American diplomatic mission in Israel.
“Due to the security situation and in accordance with the instructions of the Israel Defense Forces, the US Embassy in Jerusalem will be closed from tomorrow (Wednesday, June 18) until Friday (June 20). This applies to the consular offices in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.”, – the statement says.
Diplomats noted that, as of this moment, there is no need to evacuate American citizens from Israel.
“The Department of State always has contingency plans to help individuals evacuate crisis zones. We will notify US citizens as more information regarding exit options becomes available.”, – the embassy added.
It will be recalled that on June 13, Israel launched an operation called “Lion Nation”, during which the IDF struck targets related to Iran’s military and nuclear infrastructure. In response, Iran launched rocket attacks on Israel. On June 15, at least 12 people were killed in ballistic missile and drone attacks.
