The first court session was held in the case of illegal enrichment of former People’s Deputy Iryna Kormyshkina and her husband Yury Kormyshkina. The defendant pleaded guilty and agreed to a deal with the investigation. About this informs VAX press office.
The defense insisted on a closed trial, but the court only partially granted this request: the hearings will be held in public, except for moments when personal data will be disclosed.
According to the prosecutor, even at the stage of the pre-trial investigation, the defense initiated plea agreements, which were sent to the court together with the indictment in February.
According to the agreement, Kormyshkina must sincerely repent, transfer UAH 20 million to the state budget and donate UAH 1 million to the needs of the Armed Forces within five months. She is also deprived of the right to hold public office for two years. One of the terms of the agreement is mutual disclosure of the facts of illegal enrichment to the spouses.
Yury Kormyshkin also pleaded guilty, but appealed to the court to allow him to travel abroad for treatment, citing the consequences of injuries sustained as a result of detonating an anti-tank mine.
The judge drew attention to the absence of guarantors of the ex-deputy – Davyd Arakhamia and Vitaly Kim. The defense explained that they were not called because it was not necessary, but the court did not agree with this argument. As a result, the meeting was postponed, and at the next one, the plea agreement of Yury Kormyshkin should be considered.
We will remind that in October 2024 NABU and SAP announced that Iryna Kormyshkina was suspected of illegal enrichment. The investigation established that in 2021-2022 she received assets that exceed her official income and savings by more than UAH 20 million. Then the High Anti-Corruption Court chose a preventive measure for Kormyshkina in the form of a personal guarantee. Its guarantors were the leader of the “Servant of the People” faction, David Arakhamiya, and the head of Mykolayiv OVA Vitaly Kim.
