Exports of Ukrainian goods increased by 36%: Economy Ministry

Ukrainian exporters increased the physical volume of sales of their goods by 36.2%, reaching 99.3 million tons in the January-September 2024 period compared to the same period in 2023. This is reported by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.

“Over the last three quarters, we exported almost 99.3 million tons of products worth $28.9 billion, which is 6% more than in the previous period last year. The dynamics of exports in September compared to August of the current year is positive. We have the largest The turnover in the quarter was $3.2 billion, despite a decrease in physical exports. That is, the export of goods with a high added value is increasing.” — noted First Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyridenko.

Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka emphasized the significant growth of exports in the metallurgical industry based on the results of 9 months of 2024. In particular, the export of semi-finished products from iron increased to 1.5 million tons (+65.5%), flat rolled products – to 1.1 million tons (+86.2%), pipes – to 338 thousand tons (+52.2 %), iron ore – up to 25.2 million tons (+99.6%), and cement – up to 1.3 million tons (+31%).

Products of the agricultural industry traditionally occupy leading positions in exports. In 9 months, the largest exports were corn — 25.2 million tons (+16.2%), wheat — 16 million tons (+42.4%), sunflower oil — 4.6 million tons, meal — 3.6 million tons , poultry meat — 334,000 tons worth $708 million, juices — 82,000 tons worth $160 million (+65%).

The confectionery industry also showed growth: exports of cookies increased by 29% ($190 million), chocolate – by 29% ($169 million) and caramel – by 28% ($151 million).

In September, the sugar-making season also began, which led to the recovery of sugar exports. During the month, 24,700 tons of sugar worth $127 million were exported. In total, for January-September, sugar exports amounted to 476,000 tons worth $282 million, which is 60% more than in the same period of 2023.

As reported, for the period of January-August 2024, imports to Ukraine increased by 10% to $45.1 billion, and exports – by 12% to $27.5 billion, compared to last year.
